Century II New Logo critique

What is this? Yes, I know it’s the new logo for Century 2 but what is this logo design suppose to represent, the roof line? Why does it appear like it was created with crayons? Yes, the roof is blue but why is the blue like smoke? Why does the top of the new Century 2 logo have a handle? It’s not what I think of when I think of Century II.

You’re right Chris, the new Century 2 logo is the same concept as the Pizza Hut logo.

I presume the designer was trying to take a “humanistic” approach due to C2 being a performing arts venue. This approach fails to account for the wide range of other activities that are held in the building, and completely misses the mark relative to the style of the building’s architecture. The logofont is equally unrelated to the aesthetics of the building itself, the crayony icon, and seems to be a copycat of the waterwalk/waterfront type embellishments.

Sure – the roofline is a signature C2 feature – but Chris’ “Pizza Hut” comment is spot on – to the extent that I think this design was conceived over a stuffed crust pizza and a pepsi.
