Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe is a 7 state restaurant chain. It’s concept is both, a Mexican cafe and an Irish bar, the reason for the Aztec stripes and clover in the logo crest.

The Carlos O’Kelly’s golf tournament is no championship. It’s just a fun time for vendors and employees. So we made a serious “Golf Championship’ logo to be funny. Even the colors carry out the joke because they are taken from “The Masters”, arguably the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, steeped in golf tradition and lore.

For over a century, J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc. has been instrumental in the growth and development of residential, commercial and industrial real estate in the city of Wichita, its surrounding areas and the state of Kansas. With over a hundred years of equity in the name and a logo that has been seen in Wichita, near Wichita, around Wichita, and all over the Wichita area for 30 years, we concluded that any drastic change would be counter productive for the brand. But, their logo, designed in the 80′s, needed some work.

Before, the J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc. logo used a clunky type for the word ‘Weigand’ which had little negative space around and inside of the letter forms. For example the “A” became a solid blob, and the letters bled together which made it difficult to read at a distance. We opened up the letter forms in the word ‘Weigand’ making it much easier to see and read. Also, the basic oval shape was divided by a white block that made it impossible to use with a background color. Weigand was constricked to a white background with the their logo which made their signs disappear in the marketplace. To correct this we enclosed the oval shape so the brand logo could be used with background colors. This was a simple, but important fix because it allowed for designs that use color more dramatically to differentiate Weigand realtor signs from a marketplace filled with predominately white signs.

We also made adjustments to the color and added a piece of history to the brand identity. We changed the bright blue to a deeper more substantial blue befitting the regions real estate leader for over 100 years. We added the historical signature of founder J.P. Weigand, created form vintage letter forms, to elevate the illustrious history of the J.P. Weigand & Sons brand.

All in all, the Weigand brand is now positioned more appropriately in the marketplace. It has a sense of history and emphasizes a reputation of excellence, and quality, which is a perfect fit with their brand promise.

The River of Life Worship Center is a Pentecostal church and community center known for the raising of hands in the worship of GOD. (They did pray and raise hands before and after every meeting.) Pastor Greene and the committee that worked with us on the logo and identity were extremely conscientious and gracious in every way. What a fabulous group of people really working to live the Christian life.

The River of Life Church logo is an extremely unique visual where one image can be seen as two different ideas. The logo at one look is hands raised to the heavens reaching for GOD. With another look the logo is the Christian symbol for the Holy Spirit, a dove. Specifically within the Pentecostal beliefs the dove is associated with baptism, of which water is used. Moreover, the two images tell the story of conversion. The hands reaching to GOD in humility become filled with the Holy Spirit, the image of the dove. The conversion, being filled with the Holy Spirit is “The River of Life”.

The new Kansas City logo is a contradiction of image and theme. The visual mark a skyline while the message / tagline reads, “New Discoveries Daily”. What could be less of a ‘New Discovery” than a skyline logo for a city? The old logo and message was more of a “Discovery”.

The old Kansas City logo put forth two aspects of the city: 1) that Kansas City has more fountains than any city in the world except for Florence, Italy, and 2) it is located in the center, or heart, of the nation. 2) is not of any value because who cares if Kansas City is in the heart of America, it just means it has no mountains or ocean beaches, nothing to promote. But 1) is amazing, who knew that Kansas City has more fountains than any city in the world except for Florence, Italy? That is a Discovery!
